Lewis Ginter's Festival of Lights is fun for all ages. It is one of my favorite things to do during the Christmas season. Experience it for the first time or make it a yearly tradition for you and your family. Lewis Ginter even offers "GardenFest for Fido" with the small $2.00 per dog donation benefiting the Richmond SPCA. Every year the exhibits are different. The park is not huge so little ones will have an opportunity to see all there is to see. There are special days like Caroling Tuesday and Crafty Wednesdays, which will provide opportunities to experience different things as you take in the park. Be sure to check their event calendar so you won't miss out on any of the fun.

 On October 20th, 2013 at Fall Fest, Mark Adams & Associates collected pet food to benefit FeedMore's Meals on Wheels for Pets. We collected 665 lbs of pet food and $103 in donations in 3 hours. A little about Meals on Wheels for Pets

 

Like their owners, the pets who are cherished by millions of homebound seniors receiving MOW services, also need nutritious meals to stay healthy. When volunteers discovered that meal recipients were sharing their food with their pets, MOW realized the need for both people food AND pet food donations. With the rising costs of healthcare and living expenses, many seniors were making the difficult and heartbreaking decision to surrender their pets to shelters. Keeping companion pets, sometimes a homebound senior's only "family" member, well nourished, healthy and in their homes, is a vital element to Meals on Wheels’ and FeedMore’s mission.

Glorious Christmas Nights Production - A Storybook Christmas

If you have never checked out, West End Assembly of God's Christmas Production, then let this be the year that you do. It is always the highlight of my Christmas season and I can't recommend it enough.  Every year WEAG, as it is affectionately known by the community, puts on a spectacular production filled with song, great stories, flying angels, elaborate sets and costume changes and always included is the message of the true meaning of Christmas. Children will be mesmerized as will the adults. The cast is incredibly talented and it is entirely made up of volunteers. The tickets this year are $18 a piece and all the money earned, goes towards funding WEAG's local and global outreach and missions programs. Check out the web site and get your tickets as soon as they go on sale October 7th. I'm sure it will become the highlight of your Christmas season, too.

Breakfast: Croissant anyone? Enjoy a tasty Parisian pastry at Can Can for breakfast! This is one of my daughter's favorite places to go for breakfast.

Lunch: Always good, though the specials at the massive zinc bar are obviously a better deal than the items on the menu. As long as one avoids alcohol, the pricing is reasonable and the food is reliably delicious.

Dinner: Pricier than lunch-wonderful food. Great atmosphere and service. When the weather is nice, request to sit outside.

Cocktails: Inventive, seasonal, fresh. They use good ingredients- in house simple syrups, fresh squeezed juice, high quality liquor.
